The Bough

I was captivated by how the bough of this great tree mimicked the shape of the distant hills on Somes Sound in Southwest Harbor, Maine. I painted this as a donation for auction to the Harbor House in Southwest Harbor. You can defy gravity for only so long, and the following winter a storm took the tree down forever.
